When Melany was born her mother struggled to produce enough milk to feed her. Being a single mom and living in extreme poverty, she didn’t have other means or resources to feed her and Melany became extremely malnourished. She was afraid to leave Melany at the hospital alone and was referred to Casa Jackson (center for malnourished infants) so that she could stay with Melany while she recovered.
Melany, an only child, weighed only 6 lbs and 10 ozs at 7 weeks old. Because of the grant from the sale of the Zingrone’s new home she is now receiving housing, medical care and nutrition from the wonderful staff at Casa Jackson. She is responding very well to her treatment.
