Lucerito of Antigua

Mike and Robyn, we thank you so much for once again choosing 2roofs to help you with your home purchase! You both are amazing people and getting to know you over the years has been such a privilege. Because you chose 2roofs, we made a donation to Casa Jackson Infant Hospital. They are doing amazing work caring for malnourished children and we have personally visited the hospital many times. Thanks again friends!

Here’s the story of Lucerito, a child helped by the God’s Child .

Mike and Robyn, because you chose to work with 2roofs, a donation was made to Casa Jackson, a hospital in Antigua, Guatemala for malnourished children. This donation went to cover expenses for Lucerito. Here is her story.

Lucerito Perez

Date of Birth: 25th August 2021
Arrival at Casa Jackson: 18th April 2022
Arrival Weight: 11 lbs. 7 oz.
Arrival Height: 59.5 cm

Lucerito and her mother arrived at Casa Jackson on the 18th of April 2022 after being referred by the PGN (Guatemalan Social Services). Both Lucerito and her mother were brought to Casa Jackson from a children’s home. Lucerito’s mother is currently 15 years old, and her father is 17. Lucerito’s mother was moved to a children’s home when she became pregnant with Lucerito, her second child, and was transferred to a different children’s home when Lucerito was born. She and Lucerito’s father are no longer in contact.

Lucerito’s mother was living with her grandmother when she became pregnant as her mother passed away when she was younger and her father was not able to care for her. She is still in contact with her father but has been prevented by the PGN from communicating with her grandmother. Lucerito’s mother has a 5th grade education but hopes to continue studying in the future to become a lawyer.

Lucerito has now been at Casa Jackson for 3 months and 12 days and, in that time, has gained 2 lbs. 14 oz. or 25% of her initial weight. She has also grown 4 cm taller. At the beginning of the month Lucerito's weight actually dropped, but she has been steadily growing ever since. Despite her mother not being present currently, Lucerito is very comfortable in Casa Jackson and is making good progress, especially with our physical therapists, and is now able to crawl around.
