MEET JENAE!

Dennis and Kiley, because you chose to work with 2roofs to purchase your new home, we made a donation to Whatcom Center for Early Learning.

Whatcom Center for Early Learning's mission is to partner with families to provide high-quality, equitable, and comprehensive therapy and support services to children experiencing developmental delays and disabilities.

MEET JENAE!

Jenae came into early intervention services at WCEL at 9 months of age after moving to WA State and having participated in early intervention previously. Jenae was diagnosed with cerebral palsy resulting from hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). At WCEL she was paired with a physical therapist who came to her house weekly. A WCEL speech therapist provided the additional consultation services she needed. Jenae’s team helped to teach and weave therapeutic strategies and techniques into her daily routine. She gained lots of new skills by getting some necessary positioning equipment for standing and walking, learning some sign language, and practicing with her family every day. Jenae now attends developmental preschool, loves walking in her gait trainer, and uses both words and a speech device to communicate. Jenae loves the color blue! Some of her favorite things to do are ride horses (for hippotherapy), color pictures, sing, swing, and drive an adapted battery-powered car around her neighborhood!

Thanks for joining WCEL to help youth in our community!
