Thank you to Mike & Diana, another 2roofs client! The sale of your home has helped provide emergency and transitional housing for homeless families and support for our marginalized neighbors in Whatcom County through the work of the Opportunity Council and the Bellingham Home Fund.

The Bellingham Home Fund is a 2roofs Non Profit Partner that produces and preserves affordable homes for seniors with low incomes, veterans, people with disabilities, and working families. Bellingham Home Fund funding is used within the city for new construction of affordable housing or for preservation of existing buildings. Here is a story of an individual who was assisted through this program:

“Mary, a woman in her mid 60’s, living unsheltered, made the most of each and every day, but frequently got held back by her COPD to the point that she would end up in the hospital, often resulting in lengthy stays of up to 6 weeks.  A healthy oxygen saturation level is typically in the high-90’s, but Mary’s would go as low as 40%.  Mary couldn’t stand to stay at the Drop-In Center due to her anxiety, and the cold weather was a major trigger for her COPD; to make matters worse, her medicines and nebulizer were often lost or stolen as she tried to hold her life together on the streets.

Last winter was especially treacherous for her, but this one is looking to be much better, as she was one of the first people to move into 22 North, Opportunity Council’s newest supportive community for people who have experienced homelessness. 22 North was developed and is operating with generous support through the Bellingham Home Fund.”

2roofs' Realtors work hard to make your home buying or selling experience enjoyable and give part of every commission to help house a person in need. See more stories.
