MEET WENSI & BABY JEAN

For this build 2roofs brought down their own volunteer team to Antigua, Guatemala from the Northwest in the summer of 2016. When our volunteer team arrived we were greeted by Wensi. She invited us all inside her previous 10’ x 10’ cornstalk shelter. A small bed was inside on the dirt floor where her son Jean was napping. Through an interpreter she expressed how grateful she was to us for coming to build their family a home.

Wensi and her husband had inherited this small piece of property and built the temporary shelter on it.

Within 10 minutes of being there we jumped right in by clearing a place for the new home. We then began to dig a 3 foot trench around the perimeter. Our team swung pick axes and hoisted shovels loads of dirt for hours before laying a cinder block footer three bricks high. We mixed all the concrete by hand and used trowels to cement the blocks together.

Next we began hand cutting the lumber and rebar needed to secure our footer and begin our framing of the walls.

The framing and walls went up surprisingly fast with the help of a local builder. Our team helped with every aspect from pouring the cement floor, framing, hanging fiberboard, painting, gutters to securing the metal roof.

A HUGE THANKS TO THE HOLCOMBS!

Chris and Marlene, thanks so much for allowing 2roofs to help you find your home. We loved getting to know you both and have been so blessed by the referrals you have sent our way. You are both rock stars! Because of you this home was built! Pretty cool huh?!

We'd also like to thank our friends at Guild Mortgage, and Alycia Hoglin, for referring the Holcomb's to 2roofs.

WHEN YOU CHOOSE 2ROOFS AS YOUR REALTOR, YOUR SALE WILL HELP HOUSE A PERSON IN NEED. AND THE BEST PART IS THE DONATION COMES FROM THE REALTOR'S POCKET, NOT YOURS.

LESS STRESS, MORE MEANING.
