Joseph had been in over 40 different placements over the years. He did not have a healthy support system and lacked some basic life skills. After running from his last placement, Northwest Youth Services' PAD provided emergency housing and case management to Joseph during his stay. Most importantly, the PAD provided Joseph with a time where he could focus on being a kid and work on his own goals.
Before I came to the Mission, I was in tatters. My biggest obstacle was being abandoned by my family. I was in dire need of medical and financial assistance. I felt insecure, upset, depressed, and out of balance. I was half dead.
Sean Humphrey House is a non-profit adult family home located in Bellingham, WA that provides safe housing and 24-hour personal care services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and who often suffer from other diseases, disabilities and varying forms of mental illness.
Esther is one year old and from Escuintla, Guatemala. Her mother was previously in an abusive relationship and is raising Esther on her own without any financial or physical support from Esther’s father. Due to malnourishment, digestive issues and an upper respiratory illness, Esther was referred to Casa Jackson by her doctor.
LYDIA PLACE - Chantel's Journey
After entering her first program, Chantel transitioned in and out of community programs and shelters, only to find herself stuck in a cycle of homelessness. Living in poverty, without any family support to help get her back on her feet, Chantel bounced from housing programs, to unstable housing, to friend’s couches. This instability resulted in Chantel losing custody of her older children, a devastating and painful wakeup call.

Before I was able to get a room at the Lighthouse Mission’s Agape Home, I was homeless for five months. I lived with different families and even slept nights in my car with my ten-year-old daughter, McKenna.
2roofs was privileged to meet Susanna and Chris when they first relocated to Bellingham, WA. We enjoyed helping them find the perfect craftsman to purchase in a walkable neighborhood. Meanwhile, as they were busy updating and renovating, their purchase went to help 12 year old Mynor also get a new place to call home...READ THE STORY HERE.
Our client Patty has chosen to honor the memory of her mother Dorotha by dedicating this build in her name.
The Hernandez home will serve as a warm safer place for this family for many years to come. Kids will be raised here. Grandkids will one day visit here. Christmases will be celebrated and memories made and every one of them will have the fingerprint of Dorotha on them.
